About laboratory
Head: izr. prof. dr. MARKO JESENIK
Educational interests of the Laboratory include electromagnetic materials, magnetic measurement, electrical drives, numerical methods, computer assisted design of electromagnetic apparatuses, as well as theoretical and applied electromagnetics.
Our research work interconnects with our educational activities. It is oriented mainly into development and utilization of numerical methods, i. e. a finite element method (FEM), a boundary element method (BEM), hybrid methods (HM) and other methods for conquering arbitrary electromagnetic challenges; measurement methods for magnetic and isolation materials, and software solutions for computer aided engineering (CAD) of electromagnetic apparatuses and systems.
The activities of our Laboratory are:
- solving problems theoretically from areas of an electromagnetic field and electromagnetic wave.
- Development of tools for CAD of electromagnetic apparatuses, machines and systems.
- Design of electromagnetic apparatuses, e. g. motors, generators, transformers, electromagnets, actuators, contact systems, isolators, adapters, arresters, …) with conteporary CAD tools and support of FEM analyses.
- Design of electroengineering systems (grounding, lightning rods, etc.).
- Design of high frequency electromagnetic apparatuses.
- Development of measurement protocols and software solutions in LabView's environment for implementation of measurement and test from an area of electrical engineering.
- Characterization of softmagnetic and hardmagnetic materials and magnetisation of magnets from scarce soils and other types of materials.
- Characterization of magnetic fluids under various conditions.
- Measurement of electric properties of materials.
- Measurement of an electromagnetic field in human occupied and industrial environment.
- Measurement and simulation of electromagnetic pollution in vicinity of electromagnetic apparatuses.
- Measurement of characteristics of electromechanical converters and electrical motors up to 5kW and 20000 rev/min.
